The design/build approach for treatment plant delivery offers lower project cost, a shorten schedule and improved quality of the final product. This is accomplished by avoidance of the multi-step bid process; greater control over construction; and single entity responsibility for the entire project. The cooperation between the design engineer and the contractor leads to a solutions oriented approach to design changes and construction issues.
A major reason for improved quality is that equipment supplied for the project is selected by the design engineer, rather than allowing the least expensive unit that the contractor can supply that minimally meets the design specifications. In our design/build projects, the client knows what major equipment will be supplied.
The length of time to complete the project is reduced through shortening of the design-bid-build process, allowing for fast-tracking of the construction and a reductions in change order processing.
